One more class!!!

Oh boy! Oh boy!! This is it. I just turned in my last paper for the semester, paid for my summer class and then, stick a fork in me I am D.O.N.E!! I love getting all the, your graduating emails. I can't believe it's finally here. While I loved school, I am over school! This semester was quite the challenge to say the least! I took 3 courses and like the other semesters 2 were 8 weeks and 1 was 16 weeks. The 16 week was Intermediate Web Development. I never thought I would love coding so much and have found that I am looking forward to creating a little side business creating websites for friend, family and educators. Keep an eye out for KBeesCodes coming soon! I learned some cool tricks in this class. If you are so inclined you can check out my projects here . I also took Electronic Portfolio Development. This was where we put it all together for our final evaluation proving that we learned something. My project goes for review on July 1st. I think it looks pretty good and fe

Dear Bella - Part Deux

Over the weekend Steph was being a jerk. I know I know, not that unusual. But more than that she was being emotional, crying about being mad a a friend, something didn't go right, missed connection. She was going on and on and for the life of me I couldn't figure out the real issue. Finally I just yelled, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! She started sobbing, climbed her almost 5 foot body into my lap and said very softly, "Mom, I miss her so much" and I realized she was talking about you. Tomorrow will be 1 year since she said goodbye to you. I think about you a lot, but mostly I think about your family and how they must feel. I think about your mom who is so beautiful and amazing. She is always so sweet to invite your friends to your sister's birthday and other events. She looks happy when I see her and always offers a smile or hug to the girls. I think about your Aunt Sarah and how committed she was to your care and to supporting your family. She lov

Fine I'll wear Red today

Ok I'll join the movement today to wear red in support of education, but let's be crystal clear, I am not happy about it! Why? Well it is an insult. Why do we need to raise awareness of school teachers? The reason you are what you are is because...gasp...you went to school! You had teacher who....wait for it....had a ton of education and knows more than you! If you say to me, well we need to start thinking outside the box when it comes to education. My response to you would be, I agree and I hear you loud and clear. BUT you still need someone who knows how to put the box together. Why in the world would I want someone in charge of education, who doesn't know education? I ask you this: Would you go to a Doctor who only has an AA in Liberal Studies? Would you go to a Speech Therapist who has a degree in Journalism? Would you commission a piece of art from someone who has never pick up a paintbrush?  Would you take your child in for surgery and keep your fingers cr

2016 what can I say?

There has been no shortage of complaints about the toll 2016 has had on us. From losing one of my favorite singers of all time Prince to the country breaking my heart with the president elect, I have like many have had enough. With that being said, I have seen so much that warms my heart and makes me realize how much I have learned this year. This year I learned how children can truly celebrate a friendship. One of the most heartbreaking experiences I have had in my life happened this year and it was the death of my daughter's friend Bella. I took her death personally and was pretty pissed off at God. When I started working at the children's hospital I made this pact with God that I would give everything I had to these kids, learn about their disease, trauma, injuries so that I could help them the best way I could. The deal was that my loved ones were left alone. I felt at time of her death that God broke the promise when he took Bella. Bella showed us a rainbow a couple of n

The day America broke up with me

Dear Mr. Trump, On the morning after the election I posted this conversation with my daughters on Facebook. Me: I'm sad to say that Trump won. older child: oh no. What does that mean? Me: it means we respect the office. But we don't forget that we are beautiful, strong, independent women who will make the world a better place by loving our friends, remembering that a family comes in all different shapes and sizes and that love is love. Bigotry and hatred have no place in this family. younger child: it's ok when I'm president I'll fix it.  God love their sweet young souls! What I didn't mention was that my youngest then asked, "Mommy can I still marry S__? He's brown you know"  It was at that moment I knew that America had just broken up with me and my heart shattered. You said in your speech to those of us who didn't support you, " I'm reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so that we can work t

Another debate.....super

I've stayed fairly quiet about the election on social media. Silently absorbing and listening to ALL parties as I truly feel that having an open mind helps me make good decisions. I posted once about what I want in a president. Sadly it doesn't look like it's going to happen. With that being said, I just want to be clear about a few things as I can't believe that these are still reasons why someone would choose to vote one way or another. TRUTH: You can get an abortion at your doctors office. It's time to stop picking on Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is one of the nation’s leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men and young people. Pro-life, Pro-choice it's a doctors office. Here read for yourself:  Planned Parenthood Services TRUTH: Why do you care who chooses to marry who? How does a couple loving each other and wanting to spend their lives together affect you??  If God really cares so much he'll deal with it w
